Tollgate Gardens is a landmark residential scheme in Maida Vale in central London with a mix of refurbishment and new build. This urban site presented a number of design and detailing challenges requiring five new reinforced concrete apartment blocks as well as the refurbishment of the existing Tollgate House building. The blocks vary in height from four to 10 storeys and are supported on piled foundations. A complex transfer substructure was also required to bridge an existing trunk sewer which crosses the site.
